Building owners and managers are now legally required by the Government to carry out and register an Air Conditioning Inspection Certificate (TM44) if their building has a total of 12kw of cooling or more, this is also known as an Air Conditioning Energy Assessment.
Air Conditioning Inspection legislation was brought into effect on 4th January 2011 and dictates that all air-conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW must be inspected by an air conditioning inspector every 5 years, on 6th April 2012 it was brought into force that all Air Conditioning Inspection Reports and certificates must be produced via CLG software report production tool and lodged on the Government Landmark Database, all reports must as a minimum meet CIBSE TM44 standards, un-logged certificates and reports are deemed invalid.
Non-compliance with Air Conditioning Inspection legislation may result in an investigation by the Trading Standards and/or the issue of a penalty charge notice.
